I dreamed of snakes last night – a feverish, unpleasant dream. I woke sweating and disturbed. I made a cup of coffee and laid out a spread asking about the dream. I used the Wild Unknown Tarot. My reading:
While you dream, there is a battle occurring. When you wake it still goes on. The father of lies battles with Archangel Michael. Falsehood battles truth. This battle has been going on since the beginning and will continue to the end of days:
7 And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven.
9 The great dragon was hurled down–that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Rev. 12:7-9, NIV
The Five of Wands and the Five of Swords dance in an endless array of confrontation, combat and demonstration. The Samurai size each other up and duel until only one stands. Honor, glory, strength and righteousness make their appearance, but also Death.
The Eight of Cups and the Four of Cups are the light and dark. The light in the Eight of Cups is distant and feeble. The mountain in the background seems ominous, dark, oppressive and insurmountable. There will be no sun, no future, no redemption, only shattered dreams like shattered cups and darkness.
The Four of Cups is a promise. The moon is black and waning in the presence of a greater, increasing light. The rat sits on four illuminated cups that don’t tip or shatter. The emerging light gives them strength and purpose. Soon, the rat will have to leave because of the brightness. The light will drive away the darkness. This also has been going on since the beginning and will continue to the end of days …
