I’ve been managing the Santa Barbara Tarot Circle since 2019. We’ve been back to monthly in-person meetings for a while now. During the lock-down we held Zoom meetings, but I can’t say I was a huge fan. I prefer in-person readings too. It was nice having James Wanless, author and creator of the Voyager Tarot speak at one meeting. We had experimented with different outdoor meeting locations in downtown Santa Barbara during post-lockdown. This was fun and well-received although attendance was sparse. I would put a small sign out and did a couple of readings in front of the group for people that walked by and were interested. Yes, for money!
We are holding meetings in our back yard for now. It’s a nice environment and attendance has increased. When it gets colder, we will move back to our original indoor location at Center of the Heart. That’s a very lovely, uplifting environment also.
We have a cadre of seasoned readers that attend. There are always new or newer readers who pop in. Some continue to attend and some drift away. I was sad that one of my real proteges who had attended since High School went off to college in Colorado. It was nice that he came to a recent meeting on a school break!
Many of the attendees are very accomplished in other fields. We have musicians, artists, published authors, people with college degrees from Associate through Doctorate degrees, counsellors, nurses, homemakers, and people who work for various local schools, cities, and other branches of government as well as a variety of businesses. We have students and retirees and everywhere in between. There is a wide variety of humanity.
Most attendees are women although men have been well-represented. In my professional card reading practice a large majority of my clients are women.
It’s great to fraternize with fellow readers! There are so few venues locally where this is possible. If you are a reader or interested in becoming one you are welcome! Go to our Meetup group at meetup.com/santabarbaratarotcircle and RSVP to attend the next meeting!
