I am the manager of the Santa Barbara Tarot Circle, a Meetup group that meets once a month in Santa Barbara. I am also a professional tarot reader. Many times, people have questions about the process of reading for yourself or others. They want to know where the answers are coming from. Is it a psychological or mystical source? Are we talking to God and the Angels or just holding space for people as they discover answers themselves? People often want to categorize and define the experience. The best answer I think I have given is that “We are telling stories.”
There are many theories as to where insight comes from in a card reading. I have my own theory. That is where my business name comes from – Inspired Answers! One thing is certain though. All readings involve telling stories.
There is a unique and wonderful process that happens in a reading. A client often comes bearing their heart to you with questions that are vitally important and top of mind to them. You listen, ask questions, throw a spread, and talk it out. I talk throughout my readings for clients. It is a back-and-forth effort and I make every effort to draw the client into the process.
So, what happens when you are telling a story? What if I told you that peoples’ hearts begin to beat in sync with yours? Pretty crazy idea, right? What if you are reading remotely, but it still happens – no way right?
Read the attached article on a study of this phenomenon done by Lucas Parra, a professor of biomedical engineering at City College of New York and senior author of this study. Storytelling is more amazing that I realized! The article is here.
