Santa Barbara Tarot Circle – a Story
And then I was the organizer of the Santa Barbara Tarot Circle. Whoops, that’s the end of the story! Sometimes it works like that.
Way back when, about 15 meetings or two years ago, a wonderful woman named Allana decided to put together a group of tarot aficionados from the Santa Barbara area by creating a meetup group. She named it the Santa Barbara Tarot Circle (SBTC). She gave her time, money and energy to it wholeheartedly. She was wonderful! We ended up meeting in Alice Keck Park on either Saturday or Sunday about every six to eight weeks. She was sublimely sensitive to where every person was in their journeys, whether in reading cards or the various aspects of their life. She never pressured anyone to participate but was always encouraging when each person had something to say.
Allana because a full-time reader in Santa Barbara. This is a remarkable accomplishment and I can count on one hand others who do this and make a true living at it. Bravo Allana! Alas, Allana decided a move was in order and is living in the San Diego area now. I miss her!
But that did leave a void in the SBTC. I wondered about taking it on. I called Allana and asked her what she would think of that. Asking her advice felt like the right thing to do. She said she was happy with me taking on this role, so I did it!
I moved the venue to the Center of the Heart spiritual center in Santa Barbara on Turnpike Rd. and we meet once a month. The new venue was a natural and it seems to have worked out well. Freeway ease, lots of parking and being in a profoundly positive environment make this a great venue.
Meanwhile, back to the beginning sentence. I am still feeling my way. I have been experimenting with adding some teaching aspects to the meetings as I flit around in my personal studies, but I liked Allana’s less structured, more holistic approach too. I’ll just mix it up and see where it leads. Join me on this journey!
